Foundation Cloth for Regular Punch Needles

Monks Cloth with White Guidelines

This version of Monks Cloth is by far the best on the market and the best for beginners. Punch over and over on this cloth until your piece is perfect.

It takes a lot of punching to make this fabric fray.

Zweigart's 13 Count Monks Cloth

This is a new fabric by Zweigarts and i'm impressed! I highly recommend it.

It has no guidelines making it great for projects where you are not punching the background

Tufting Monks Cloth with Yellow Guidelines

This is primarily a tufting cloth, but it works well with regular sized punch needles.

However, I do not recommend this for beginners.

Hessian

An excellent fabric for punching once you are confident.

This has less stretch so it requires patience.

You can also only re-punch one or two times before you'll notice fraying.

Zweigart Monks Cloth 7 Count

A Slightly challenging fabric to work with because of the very open weave.

But it does work well with large punch needles particularly the lavor chunky punch needle.

Primary Rug Backing

This is an expensive cloth but incredibly tough and durable.

Great for pojects that need to withstand some wear and tear!

Foundation Cloth for Medium Punch Needles

Linen Weave

This is a fabric I stumbled upon when I first started punch needling.

It is stretchy but tough and perfect for the lavor punch needle or 3 needle punch needle from Studio Koekoek

Hessian

This is the same fabric as mentioned above. It works great with medium needles as well.

It has less stretch so it requires patience.

You can also only re-punch one or two times before you'll notice fraying.

Foundation Cloth for Small Punch Needles

Weavers Cloth

I am in love with this fabric. It is all I use for my projects.

There are alternatives: Muslin, Calico, Cotton, Denim....

But I prefer a cloth that I can makes some mistakes with or rework a section of my art.

Weavers Cloth is the only one durable enough to allow this.

It also has a georgous stretch to it.
